Assam TET 2019: New Guidelines Announced; to be Held in Two Shifts in a Day

The Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2019 will be held on November 10 next in 33 districts. This time candidates have to sign their answer scripts. Otherwise they will be considered as absentees


A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the state Education department held at the office of the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA). Apart from this several other crucial guidelines have been formulated by the concerned authorities.

As per the decision in the meeting, the examination for the lower primary will start at 8:30 am while the upper primary examination will begin at 12:30 pm.

The deputy commissioners, sub-divisional officers (civil) and the respective police stations of the districts will take care of the security of the examination centres.

This is the first TET examination to be held in the state after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power.

The government has taken all possible measures to ensure that the examination is held in a free and fair manner leaving no scope for any controversy.

Assam TET 2019 will be held after a gap of seven years. The last time TET examination was held in 2012 during the erstwhile Congress government.

The previous examination was held in a systematic, free and fair manner. Thousands of educated unemployed youths of the State were recruited as teachers thereafter.

At present there are 17,292 posts are lying vacant across the State.

Among these, 10,137 are in the lower primary level and 7,155 posts are lying vacant in the upper primary level.

The last date to apply for Assam TET 2019 for physically challenged candidates has been extended. Candidates can apply until September 27, 2019.

The result of this examination will be valid for seven years from the date of announcement. Therefore all candidates who cleared TET last time and their certificates have expired, will have to appear in the examination again.
